Current Island Life: Volunteer EMT/WEMT, Volunteer Firefighter: engineer/driver (love those big red trucks)/pump operator/vehicle & rope rescue technician. Spare time? amateur photographer, ornithologist, naturalist, yachtswoman, bookworm, music lover and chocoholic. Married to Francis for 3+ decades; co-staff to 2 cats: Charles, who opens doors and thinks he’s a dog, and Darwin, who puts up with Charles.
Pre-Island Life: corporate wienie, radio newscaster, newspaper reporter, junior nurse at age 8 and junior firefighter at age 10 (still have the badges) – premonition?
Life: sailed Seattle/Hawaii (truly appreciated ice and flush toilets on returning); bicycle raced in velodrome (1st experience with lactic acidosis); parachuted from perfectly good airplanes (and loved it); took postal delivery ship up coast of Norway to Russian border (about 100 stops & 24 hours of daylight); climbed Mt. Whitney and Mt. Rainier (discovered mental & physical reserves I didn’t know I had); struggled through 10 years of night school for my degree (you should have seen the celebration!).
