Weyshawn Douglas Koons is the Lead Paramedic for San Juan Island EMS. She has lived on San Juan since the Thanksgiving of 1981. Ten years after moving here, Weyshawn took the EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) class and fell in love with emergency pre-hospital care. Weyshawn serves as our Senior EMS Instructor (SEI).

She then spent a year in 1996-1997 going through the University of Washington’s Medic One Program in Seattle, and feels privileged to be able to share in so many of her patient’s lives. “I think I am one of the luckiest people, ever! I live on a beautiful island in the midst of an incredible community and get to work with the finest EMT’s in the world. I love my family, my friends, my job and the camaraderie I share with my co-workers,” Weyshawn says.
Weyshawn is also a graduate of the Critical Care Emergency Medical Transport Program through UMBC.
