San Juan Island EMS Paramedics

All of our paramedics are Nationally Registered and dually certified in the State of Washington. In addition, they are providers in BLS, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Marine Rescue, Emergency Vehicle Operations, Wilderness Medicine and flight medicine.  Our paramedics are additionally certified as either Critical Care EMT-Paramedics (CCEMT-P), Certified Flight Paramedics (FP-C) or are actively pursuing this special accreditation.
Our paramedics are outfitted with an Advanced Life Support Quick Responder Vehicle allowing immediate life-saving intervention to arrive within minutes while the ambulance is still responding. Equipment includes cardiac 12 Lead EKGs, defibrillators, cardiac medications, advanced airway equipment, trauma and obstetrical equipment.

Travis Potter

Weyshawn Koons

Weyshawn Douglas Koons is the Lead Paramedic for San Juan Island EMS. She has lived on San Juan since the Thanksgiving of 1981. Ryan Nelson

Ryan Nelson started in EMS 1997 after a visit to the island turned into permanent residence here.Ryan began working full-time with us in January 2008. He has been working with Skagit Medic One for over 7 years. In his free time, he is an avid skier and sea, surf and whitewater paddler.
