San Juan Island EMS Paramedics

Most of our paramedics are Nationally Registered and all are certified in the State of Washington. In addition, they are certified in BLS, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Marine Rescue, Emergency Vehicle Operations, and FAA Flight.

Our on call paramedics are outfitted with an Advanced Life Support Quick Responder Vehicles allowing immediate life-saving intervention to arrive within minutes while the ambulance is still responding. Equipment includes cardiac 12 Lead EKGs, defibrillators, cardiac medications, advanced airway equipment, trauma and obstetrical equipment.

Jim Ricks

Jim Ricks

Jim Ricks is the longest standing employee of EMS. He began his career in the 1970’s and is our most senior paramedic with over 27 years. Jim also oversees our interoperable communications efforts in conjunction with his job as Enhanced 9-1-1 coordinator for the county.
In his spare time, Jim enjoys boating and travel.
