Airway Cameras Now In Service
San Juan Island EMS has again increased its ability to treat critically ill and injured patients through cutting edge technology. The Glidescope Ranger is an advance airway camera that allows the paramedic to look deep into the airway and place a breathing tube without compromising the patient’s neck. This state of the art technology is usually only available in the surgical and emergency departments of major hospitals. SJIEMS has been planning for these cameras for over two years, and is excited about offering this advanced treatment to the island. They will be used when a patient needs a breathing tube in the most dire of circumstances, possibly saving the patient from more risky and invasive procedures.
