Taxes & Funding
San Juan Island EMS is publicly funded through a six-year levy as part of San Juan County Public Hospital District No. 1, most recently approved by voters on February 6th, 2022. The EMS tax levy allows the Public Hospital District to provide emergency response services, community paramedicine, public education courses, and much more at discounted rates to island residents. One of the biggest benefits of the levy include the continuation of its zero co-pay or co-insurance policy for ambulance services to San Juan Island residents.
For more information about how tax dollars are spent, please reference San Juan Island EMS’s six-year budget plan from the San Juan County Public Hospital district #1’s website.
