MCI Exercise on San Juan Island

On Saturday May 11, a multi-agency mass casualty exercise was held on San Juan Island. Participants included San Juan Island EMS, Island Air Ambulance, San Juan Island Fire, San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, and the Peace Island Hospital Emergency Department.

The exercise was a bus and car collision with emergency exits blocked and almost 20 patients in the bus and car.

One of the community volunteer “patients” said of the event that “I am not a medical person, but after participating in this event, I know that the emergency responders on this island would take care of me and my family. We’re lucky to have you all.”
