VALMARK Receives Community Safety Partner Award

The Safety Committee of VALMARK (King’s Market, Market Place, King’s Video, and King’s Marine Center) was presented with the San Juan Island EMS Community Safety Partner Award by EMT Lainey Volk on December 14, 2010. The company trained all of their employees in CPR/AED use and purchased 3 AEDs (automatic external defibrillator) for quick access in public locations.

Defibrillation in the first minute of sudden cardiac arrest can save up to 90% of victims. After the first few minutes, survival decreases rapidly.  VALMARK is an important partner in increasing our community’s life saving abilities. We congratulate VALMARK management and employees for this extraordinary accomplishment.

The new AEDs are located at:

  • King’s Market bottom of stairway below Marine Center (next to ATM)
  • Market Place at the customer service counter
  • King’s Video in back hallway below the corporate offices.
